Diet for gout
The availability of food and dietary habits have changed throughout history. At one time, meat and alcohol were reserved only for the wealthiest – and historically, the wealthiest were kings. With kings came, at that time, a socially desirable disease that distinguished them from the ‘lower’ classes, which we now know as gout. Today, gout is no longer seen in a royal light. Quite the opposite. Gout has become a reflection of poor dietary habits and lifestyle.
